SJCC Colin Harvey Award
Presented each year to an up and coming construction manager, the SJCC Colin Harvey Award was established in memory of its namesake, who died in 2003 and was passionate about training in the industry, and in particular, people making the change from being a site operative to site management.
The 2019 award was presented to Daniel Lloyd, a Site Manager at R G Carter.
Daniel started his career with R G Carter as an Apprentice Bricklayer and subsequently was placed on their management trainee programme.
The judging committee were impressed with the range of skills that Daniel had acquired within such a short period of time. It was evident that he had worked alongside some of the most experienced site managers on local projects where he was keen to gain a greater degree of knowledge and apply this to his objective of progressing his career.
He completed his Diploma in Site Management and used his skills and experience in confidently managing projects in Kesgrave and Colchester. He is currently the site manager on the new £14.5 million Records Office (HOLD) project in Ipswich.
The judges’ commented. “We were very impressed with the range of skills that Daniel has acquired so far, and he has demonstrated a high level of commitment and a desire to progress his career.”
